About Us

History of the Plant
When AEF started operation in March 1992 we manufactured MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), a gasoline-blending component that reduces tailpipe and evaporative emissions and also improves engine performance. We were the first of its kind in Canada, producing over 500,000 tonnes of MTBE per year which we sold primarily in Western Canada and California
Our facility was converted in 2002 to the production of Isooctane, which is a high octane (100) gasoline-blending component. We produce enough product to fuel approx. 45,000 vehicles per day.
Quick Facts:
Product - Isooctane Production - 560,000 Tonnes/yr Employees - 96 Cost to build the plant - $360 million
Markets for Product:
We sell our product to refineries for blending into their premium gasolines. We ship our product to the west coast via pipeline where it is blended into gasoline or loaded onto ships for transportation to its final destination in:
- Western Canada
- West Coast United States
- International
